Today is his actual birthday. In 1983 President Regan signed a bill that named the third Monday in January as the holiday observance “Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday.
I like this quite of his- “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
St. Martin of King. The man sure did love. Especially white women. We all have flaws but elevating this guy to a national holiday I've always thought was a bit much. What's next, George Floyd Month?
I think the act of attacking character of past leaders is marxist. They do it to Jefferson, we shouldn't do what they do. MLK Jr. being compared to floyd is silly.
Don't hold them to the lens of current time, but hold them to their time. And in MLK's time communists, filanderers, and plagiarists were all varying degrees of poor qualities.
filandering is still a poor quality, but that doesn't put King on par with Floyd.
I'd put him down as worse than Floyd. Floyd destroyed the lives of those he interacted with and temporary damage to downtown areas.
MLK has led to the wholesale destruction of cities like Selma, Birmingham, Memphis, Atlanta. 70 years ago these cities were safe for both black and White. Now, no one is safe.
