It’s tough to say since the positions haven’t been fully implemented yet, but there was some very thorough discussion about it on this site when they posted for and started hiring for these positions. The impression that many of us had was that it had the hallmarks of a back door attempt to build an army of federal thugs, hired under guise of being IRS agents. If I recall correctly, the job postings specifically spoke to armed enforcement.
They don't have guns, most the people they hired are on the phones, but I'll be more than happy to go to the border.
