"the gun found next to Balaji's body, a Glock pistol he bought on January 4, 2024, with one spent casing in the chamber."
Either the person who wrote this has no clue about firearms, Glock now makes a Revolver, someone put the spent casing back in the chamber, or his year old gun was very poorly maintained and didn't eject the spent casing.
It's probably "the author has no clue", but it really stood out to me when reading it!! The casing is usually found outside the weapon near where the shot was fired.
Other strange things mentioned by the article include that there were two tufts of synthetic hair found near the body, as of from a wig, and that the apartment was ransacked as if someone were looking for something (maybe a USB drive or other evidence against OpenAI?).

But what do I know?
