They did this by selling cheap copies of products designed and invented in the west.
“Outsourcing” to Chyna gave them the blueprints, it was intentional and treason.

This situation really started ramping up in the early 1980's.
The narrative back then was if we in the Free World are nice to the Chinese Communists, that will encourage the Chinese Communists to be nice to us!

This situation inflicted great damage to lot of Countries, especially the English speaking Countries around the Pacific Ocean.
The US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand were affected badly.

This map is fake BTW. They show that Guinea Bissau went from Red to Blue when it has fluctuated (it mostly imports from its neighbors, and has refused Belt and Road offers). Also French Guinana shouldn't be shown independently of France, and Greenland's biggest trading partner is always going to be the US due to the extensive military presence. I bet if you actually did research the map would be a lot more mottled.
We could learn a lot from Russia how to be self sufficient from the rest of the world.
But, multi culture, diversity = STRENGTH!...except in one tiny place on the east coast of the Mediterranean.
