Far too many people refuse to see the change that has happened in the world. I was alive during the riots over Rodney king but nobody acknowledges the community outreach and police reforms that happened after. The same is true with russia.
People my age (dang almost 50 now) who grew up in the states were very influenced by the cold war and we tend to see Russia as the old Soviet Umion still. Which is just silly but it seems to be human nature.
