My 88 year old father is showing signs of dementia. He gets very confused sometimes. Any reccomendations on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

two tablespoons of Coconut Oil or MCT oil - daily,......low cholesterol - is what CREATED disease - so they could TREAT it......
Creatine is a cheap, potent and well tolerated supplement that aids in cognition as well as athletic endurance. Few people eat enough meat daily to get enough creatine that they wouldn't benefit for 5g per day supplement.
Our cells only store 1 to 2 seconds of ATP at a time, after which ADP must be recycled into new ATP. The creatine phosphate pathway is used in this process, then glycolysis, then lactate etc. Fortifying with supplemental creatine is the easiest way. Most dementia is an energy problem with brain cells unable to uptake glucose like healthy cells, hence an energy shortage. Ketones work as alternate energy but few elderly are willing to do a restrictive diet. Supplemental C8 powder can generate low levels of ketones even in those not on a ketogenic diet.
Exercise is very important, especially vigorous, short duration exercise. Even once per week can be beneficial as long as they can tolerate it.
Other ideas are supplemental Omega 3 (fish oil)- high quality is important. Vitamin d3/k2. Nitric oxide precursors (ie beet root powder, L-citrulline) can help with circulation. Ample sun exposure. Deep sleep as well for glymphatic clearance.
Ivermectin, coconut oil, a carnivore or strict keto diet I’ve read about these things helping for a few years now but I’ve also discovered that the hydrogen water bottles seem to be very beneficial as well.
Passing this along.
Ivermectin is turning out to be the nearest thing to a "miracle drug" in medical history. Dr. William Makis concentrates on application to cancer treatment, but has found it surprisingly beneficial in treating other difficult conditions including among them dementia. Here is a link to one of his substack articles that I think is a good place to start. Best of luck to you.
