Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

I think I figured out why Trump claims he wants to make Canada the 51st state. Trump seeks reactions, not Canada as a state. He aims to destabilize Canada’s leftist government. This trolling hinders communists’ progress. By sparking a war of words, Trump escalates nationalistic rhetoric, overwhelming the left’s control over supporters, who then push for a more nationalistic government. This is basically "Make Canada Great Again."
I have been thinking a lot about it as a Canadian. I also had come to the same theory, but I have also added this element: Trump doesn't play chess like that. Every move he makes is toward checkmating the NWO cabal. Yes, on one hand, he has single handedly sparked the biggest patriotic movement in Canada I've seen in my 50+ years here; on the other hand, he is right that Canada is far too reliant on the US and the US would benefit so much from Canada's resources. If Canada resists becoming the 51st state, the Globalists lose. If Canada eventually embraces it, the Globalists lose. Checkmate move.
I agree but I think that like me he would rather see a patriotic nationalistic Canada that is taking care of itself then Canada as a state, but trump would role with whatever the citizenship wants not what the foreign influencers from Europe and China want.
Zugzwang (from German 'compulsion to move';pronounced[ˈtsuːktsvaŋ]) is a situation found in chess and other turn-based games wherein one player is put at a disadvantage because of their obligation to make a move; a player is said to be "in zugzwang" when any legal move will worsen their position.
Although the term is used less precisely in games such as chess, it is used specifically in combinatorial game theory to denote a move that directly changes the outcome of the game from a win to a loss.
Putting the opponent in zugzwang is a common way to help the superior side win a game, and in some cases it is necessary in order to make the win possible. More generally, the term can also be used to describe a situation where none of the available options lead to a good outcome.
This is interesting. I was thinking the same thing. All of the sudden Canadians are proud to be Canadian. 🇨🇦
