"We learned 40% of the phone calls they get are from fraudsters. They steal people's social security is what happens. They call in, they claim to be a retiree. They convince the social security person on the phone to change where the money is flowing. It goes to the fraudster. This is happening all day, every day.
What we are doing will help Social Security benefits. As a result of the world of DOGE, there will be more money, not less money. Let the record show that I said this, it will be proven to be true."
Oh, that's BS. I worked in the call center for SSA. They have to ID themselves with the info on file. They don't "convince" us of anything. They have to provide several verifications of the information in the record. If they don't answer the information correctly, they are told to take their ID and go into the local office.
I'd love to see a breakdown of the numbers and just who (which SS recipients) is getting defrauded. Are they shut-ins who can't fight for themselves? ...nursing home elders? Or is it just ordinary older citizens who wake up one day and find their SS deposits aren't coming in?
