Trump pardoned him a few days ago saying he was “highly recommended” and that he was “unfairly targeted” even though he defrauded his company with a fake hydrogen fuel truck.
Wondering if anyone has anymore information on this as it doesn’t seem like Trump or the administration has provided any other explanations.
His lawyer was Pam Bondis brother. Her Brother was also a large cash donor to the campaign.
So it’d fit the bill for being a Spoils system reward. IE rewarding Donors and Loyalists. Much like Ross Ulbricht was also ultimately a similar reward for the Libertarians who broke ranks and voted Trump.
Where’s the justice in that?
It’s not about Justice it’s simply about Transactional Politics. When your power base is ultimately reliant on keeping loose alliances if groups and wealthy individuals. Many of whom don’t actually like each other. Or even necessarily like you on board with your agenda.
You do what you need to do to secure votes and capital. Along with rewarding loyalists so they don’t stab you in the back later over some slight real or imagined. In order to have the resources to implement an envisioned agenda. That’s the downside of living in a Democratic/Republican system. An inordinate amount of time is spent courting voting blocs and wealthy individuals. And courting those blocs and people comes with the explicit implication you’ll do things they want while in power.
It’s been standard procedure since the ink on the Constitution was still wet. About the only thing that’s really changed. Is Andrew Jackson made it acceptable to drop any and all pretense of disguising what you were doing. Prior to him they at least made the effort to pretend it wasn’t what it was. Which was rewarding friends, loyalists and political allies.
And why exactly do you think the trump administration needs votes or capital from a fraudster?
It’s not from the Fraudster. He’s rewarding Bondis brother. For the money he donated.
It’s doubtful he actually gave a damn about whether or not Milton rotted in prison or not.
But 1.2 million dollars from the Brother. And the fact his sister was currently AG. Translated to. “I need to keep this guy and his family on board. Or they may cause me problems later.”
That just makes them look bad, I don’t see the win, especially because bondi doesn’t seem that special anyway, she’s just another lawyer.
In this case. It’s probably more of someone relatively loyal. Though not exceptionally unique or inspiring.
IE Bondi and company. Is currently worth more than a theoretical gem of a AG candidate that may come along later.
It is only Week 10 of 208. So perhaps said special individual will come along later. Until then he has to make do with what and who he has on hand.
That’s a real sad excuse for something that suppose to have been planned for decades, they can’t find a trustworthy lawyer who doesn’t need to be bought and paid for? That can’t be the reason.
Why is that relevant?
