For everyone here complaining that VATs are not tariffs.
They are in effect a tariff on all US imports, regardless of whether your domestic goods are also taxed.
The US doesn't have a VAT, tax, on your exports. So, it allows you to sell into US economy cheaper than into your own country. Creating a stream of US dollars back into your country and nothing back into the US.
The days of stealing money from the US are over.
What did Finland do to you? This is not the first time you've singled out Finland. What is your hidden Agenda?
I singled out Finland because it's the only country I was able to find this data easily and also because I live in Finland.
I also wish the USA's tariffs help remove VAT which is too high in Finland so I kind of have a hidden agenda.

I guess, half of my family comes from Karelia, some so far east it was never part of Finland. I still have relatives in Russia.
I'll find out where she was born and get back to you. It has been difficult tracing back family History because in the olden days people would often change their last names to the owner of the Farm they worked on. It was a form of insurance and strength because people would instantly know you were affiliated with that Farm. It made it really difficult for people to trace your own family tree.
Yeah, the older relatives of my father's family also changed their Russian sounding names after WW2 to Finnish names because they experienced ethnic discrimination and younger relatives got automatically Finnish names.

since the answer to both is yes, it's a tariff. doesnt matter the official title for it. it's like saying ANTIFA is not fascist because the official name is Anti-Fascist
Well, yes, but the VAT is also put onto any product locally produced and sold.
It would be unfair to charge VAT on Finnish made products, but not on USA imports, right?
USA is militarily and economically stronger country so US products shouldn't be charged VAT.
