Sunday is Palm Sunday, then Holy Week. In the Orthodox Church, from Lazarus Saturday onward, we all enact the last week of Jesus on earth through raising Lazarus from the dead, Jesus's entry into Jerusalem, we have a Healing Service on Tuesday, then the onrush: Thursday, the institution of communion at the Last Supper, Holy Friday, the Crucifixion and burial services, Saturday, the readings from the Bible at the longest Liturgy of the year (five hourse), and finally the Paschal Service from 11 PM to around 4 AM on Sunday morning. All in all, 27 hours of services in one week. All sung, a capella. I can't wait!! So exciting to relive the most important week in all of history! Oh, and on Sunday our seveN-week fast ends!! We do not eat dairy, eggs, meat or even fish for seven weeks! You can imagine how delicious everything tastes after that. I'm still having shrimp ramen for a quick meal, or a PB and J sandwich, in a pinch. Where is my CHEESE!!! Give me some BUTTER!!! EGGS!!! How much do eggs cost now??? Must be $20 a dozen!!
