You make an interesting point. It reminds me of when I used to travel a bit for work, and often hit up a bookstore before heading to the gate. I would be lucky to find a copy of something I was interested in, and sometimes I'd grab the last one on the shelf. The NY Times Bestsellers (trash novels and popular people authors) would be several stacks prominently displayed, and there were always plenty of them. Would rarely see someone buy one. I never connected the dots at the time, I was just curious to see who would bother to buy one and seldom caught anyone in the act.
