"When female Anopheles mosquitoes in the laboratory consumed blood containing nitisinone, the drug was lethal to young, old, and insecticide-resistant populations and outperformed the mosquitocidal drug ivermectin. "
Invermectin kills all parasites! All diseases are caused by either biological parasites or nutrient deficiencies! A parasite will consume you alive if the doctor pretends you have cancer and microvaves you, instead of giving you an antiparasitic solution! Nothing that is not biological can harm the human body, unless it severes a major blood supply conduit! Doctors recommend you live with a bullet lodged in you if trying to extract it can damage vital functioning organs! Your God given body fights all foreign biological entities and would extract, on it's own, what does not belong in it! No one in the history of the world has died from a piece of broken bottle lodged in their fingers!
This type of mosquito control is interesting, and will turn dead mosquitoes into many airline tickets for researchers wanting holidays in exotic places at somebody else's' expense. Many expensive, long-term studies will have to be done before efficacy can be known.
Individual mosquitoes will be able to transmit malaria from an infected person to somebody nearby but if the total mosquito population decreases it could be of use.
Cost, safety and efficacy will have to be compared to controlled use of insecticides such as DDT.
Dr Billy Gates tried a similar system by immunising people against mosquitoes that killed the insects after biting a patient. I have not heard of this recently so it probably did not work well. Come to think, I have not heard of many successes of any of Gates' health drives.
