Does anyone remember when the Ten Commandments was traditionally aired on the prime-time networks every Easter? It sadly is not anymore and if you carefully listen to Cecil B. DeMille’s introduction to the film, (3:16-3:30) I think you will know why.
I have a copy of the Ten Commandments along with the original Ben-Hur and both I traditionally taken time to watch during the Easter and Passover weeks every year, and for those of you out there who are interested, Youtube, to their credit, has offered a free viewing of 1956 classic of the Ten Commandments which I wish to share with you all.
Disclaimer: The youtube link image display may make a misleading claim of the movie being age-restricted as an attempted form of censorship by way of suppressing viewership. If you see such a label, do not believe it, but instead take time to watch the film for yourself.
It was on last Saturday on ABC. Its not always on Easter. Sometimes its on Palm Sunday. Airing on Saturday does seem unusual though because typically I cant stay awake for it all. This year the wife and I watched the entire 5 hours.
The story of Moses and the Exodus is the story of Passover and if you remember correctly Jesus entered Jerusalem 5 days before Passover on what would become Palm Sunday and was Crucified the day before Passover.
