When he moved us away from analog signals for local tv and into only digital signals, he took away citizens' ability to stay updated on local weather through local tv stations. Do we have a new FCC Director under PDJT? Can we please have at least a couple analog stations for public safety issues? Digital signal is iffy at best when the tornado sirens are blaring.

After watching pixilated teevee screens on many channels, I developed a theory that strong signals ARE possible but in wee bit of favoritism of cable networks they allowed weaker signal strength to promote cable hookups for people sick of pixalations..
As OP mentions, Digital TV signals don't degrade gracefully- it's close to all or nothing, like running out of gas versus an alkaline battery gradually becoming dead.
In theory, in urban environments, it can work well... but if you're not close to the station, or anything is suboptimal, it becomes bad really quick.
