I hear that burning it in a charcoal burner keeps evil entities away, they hate the smell of it.
I think intelligent entities, albiet evil, are on a much higher (lower) plane than for an odor to repel them.
We cannot, in our human, fleshly state, comprehend the true nature of the spirit world.
It take Light, from Christ, to cast them, imprison them.
I think maybe evil spirits could be repelled by it, evil entity's would require a cross or prayers, full demon would need a priest and exorcism.
Hollywood teaches this. You hold a cross up to a demon you are libel to get a arse kicking. See Acts 19:14-17.
