I'd wager it's the conspicuous inserts and over-representation of mixed race couples is a turn off, but not mixed couples per se. I was previously married to a Filipina, and I'm engaged to a German/Ghanaian (black) woman. We see lots of interracial couples in public, but we don't feel the need to see them in media or elsewhere. We love each other, and we don't see ourselves as a white man and a black woman. We're just a man and woman who love each other. It works for us. We're secure in our relationship and don't need external validation.
