Society would have fundamentally changed. For the good, or bad, is subject to debate. Even the Mob figured out you need a good blood-letting every generation or so, to clear out the bad actors and make room for the young.

I'm still not convinced Trump's not just fighting a delaying action against the 2nd civil war.

I hope he's right.
