I remember in High School, covering for the receptionist in the ICU when she was out on vacation. Lunch the nurses would be excited because a drug rep was coming in with lunch. They'd go for the food (which was always amazing!) and sit and "have to listen to a drug presentation". Which they all did. They didn't like the presentation, but they'd eat the food. I didn't think too much of it, but now I know that even presenting the info to a disinterested crowd will get the info out there.
Fast forward a few years (probably 10-15 years) I had a client that was a drug rep. She was probably mid 40's, nice looking, and in shape. One session she mentioned she had gotten a minor face lift (it was pertinent to our session). She said that in her business, she needed to look as young as healthy as possible, so she could squeeze a few more years of work out if she got the lift to look less older. I thought it was sad, but if she was willing to do that to work, it's her business not mine.
Anyhow, yeah. I can verify those two things based on my own experience.
I used to work for GSK. I can tell you everything she said is true. Why, I have seen the manipulation after the reporting I sent in. The push of the drugs even after the adverse reactions being reported and written.
