They keep lowering the standards for BP levels too. (Same with glucose levels so we'll soon all be diabetic.) Eventually the level for normal BP will be based on dead people with no heartbeat at all. I found an ayurvedic herbal on Amazon called Carditone that appears to work better for my BP than the prescriptions. Not medical advice because I'm certainly no doctor, just sharing an experience.
Since I am not on the local clinical medical register I cannot give any advice, but there is some evidence that chocolate (about 1 small square a day) helps reduce the blood pressure. The best stuff is the darkest non-dutched chocolate that you can afford.
Endurance exercise will also help.
My Outside doctor had me on a statin and I went off of it...HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS BUT still on BP med for some odd reason!!!!
NOTE: take blood pressure everyday and it is still good!!!!! Coming off that pretty soon!!!!!
