I always asked why a person refused because I want to know the why. For me, it's because I used to work in the pharmaceutical world. I saw their corruption and the side effects.

How did it save any single person? They still got the disease, and just as bad or worse than anyone else. I bet it saved zero people.
Would tetanus count? That's a vaccine.
I would count it as having saved zero people from tetanus. Hospitals routinely give it (it's actually Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) for any puncture, cut, bite wounds just in case. But ask them that if there is actually tetanus present would it save me or would that require something else?, and watch them fall over themselves trying to explain how the shot saves you even though it takes about two weeks to elicit an immune response.
