Yeah. Musk always came with risks IMO. If you listen to everything he's said, he's singularly focused on his own vision/companies. For a while that aligned with Trump, but it came with caveats. People want him to be something he's just not, a regular supporter or a pseudo VP. He's smart, and I really don't think he's intentionally malicious, but Im not surprised he would want to have more control and this would be an obvious way to do that.
