You’re absolutely right. This slippery slope all started with the “love is love” bullshit back around 2015.

It’s not really much of a leap for these kind of “christians” to say “being attracted to minors isn’t a choice, it’s how god made me” or whatever other vile thing they need to twist the gospel into in order to justify their sins.
