A lot is going on here. NJ v. Mt Laurel is what created the low-income housing law in NJ. For many years the burbs that could afford it would buy credits in the less well off towns and the govt counted that as low income units. ACORN or one of those scumbag federal agencies challenged that process and the NJ courts stopped allowing towns to outsource their low income requirement. builders come in and sue the towns for land to get up to "code". They build apartment and town home complexes and designate about 5-6 units out of 60 as S8 housing. The towns are giving tax abatments to the builders also. Basically every burb in NJ is not only gaining low income housing they are gaining tons of rental units. It is devestating the schools and towns as they are flooded with people who can't afford to actually purchase homes in there area.
