As someone who's lived in for 30 years (and felt pretty much trapped the last 10 of those, but that changes in 2026) in the Peoples' Republic of Northern Virginia, about 15 miles south of this shithole...while this likely plays a part in a larger plan I'm not aware of, there's precious little I ever want to see again, let alone save, in the District. I commuted downtown for 17 years and vowed I'd cross the Potomac as few times as possible once I got a job in NoVA. Yes, there's tons of our country's history based in the District...I just don't ever care to go visit again, even being this close.
We do, J1D, and TY -- we're mostly safe, because we don't go downtown. ;) Again, I hope POTUS has good luck cleaning up that mess...but in a city that votes 94% liberal, it will be an uphill battle.
