How many times have you seen a link to a video on GAW (or anywhere else) and didnt have time to listen to the long video right then, but later when you were free, the post was gone and you forgot what it was about?
This is one place where the AI tech has matured so well that with just a single click, you get get high quality summary in under a minute.
My favourite is this one which is free (at least for now), but there are many other alternatives and feel free to explore and share what you think is the best.
What I like about this particular site though, is that when you copy the summary and paste it in GAW, the formatting works perfectly!
I would strongly urge every Anon to post a summary of the video when they are posting videos that are longer than 15-20 mins. Consider this your public service for the community!
Interesting. I just tried it on an a 9 hour audio book on The Secret History of the Jesuits and it took all of 2 maybe 3 minutes.
No idea how well it summarized, I browsed through the output but impressive.
Google must be doing something to their YT videos that allow for this.
Thanks though, pretty cool!
The most Google might be doing is providing the transcript of the video. The rest if being done by the site's AI model (LLM).
BTW, I tried building something like this 6 months ago, and while I succeeded in creating summaries, it was nowhere near this impressive. The difference is the opensource AI model that I was using was very rudimentary, but now AI models have really pushed far - both open source and proprietary. I have no idea what LLM they use, but it seems to be very high quality LLM.
What I am trying to say is that I can completely assure you that Google does not need to do anything beyond providing transcript and the rest is done by the LLMs.
My reasoning for thinking Google may be "doing something" which may just be transcripts, is that you can only do YT videos, or if you go to the video icon you can select from YT or upload one from your device.
Hopefully they'll support other platforms soon.
Now, if you could hear the summary and crank the speed up to 1.5x, watching videos will be a thing of the past for me lol
I think YT makes transcripts much easier to access than other platforms. The next step will be to create an AI model that can very quickly create a transcript of any video. Then they will be able to support any platforms.
This whole area is so fast moving, and so much happening every day, it reminds me of late 90s when Internet was in this phase. Quite exciting times. I am glad I got to enjoy both these inflection points - that one controlled by Cabal and this one controlled by WHs.
