I fully understand that there were lots of going to the island. What I don't understand is why trump is protecting them by not doing anything about them. He's as bad as the democrats because they didn't do anything either.

I’m not speculating on anything. I didn’t make up a story about Trump being an FBI informant. That is information that has been recently revealed. Not my speculation.
Second, he was likely still working hand in hand with the FBI to go after others involved. Or at the very least, keeping the option open by not letting it be revealed that he was an informant. In fact, it was best for him to appear as if he was trying to stop evidence from being revealed in order to keep the trust of those the FBI was going after.
