There was a house for sale near me recently. 130 years old and in need of a lot of work. It was last sold for $39k in 1993 when the median income was $31k and average was $27.5k. The average 30 year fixed rate was a little over 7% in 1993 by the way, very similar to today. Today the average wage is reported at $62k but the house wasn't listed for $80k instead it was $210k. We need prices to come way down to get back to affordable houses. Interest rates could be 0 and it wouldn't make homes at these prices affordable.
