My friend who is an American Airlines captain just told me people are getting fired. They are told their social media is being monitored and this is a zero tolerance no exceptions policy. This does not infringe their freedom of speech, companies are allowed to fire those who do not allign with the mission statement or bring negative publicity. This is happening at hospital, it’s happening in schools, the silent majority isn’t silent anymore.

Lawsuits is one word.
And yes they can be very effective.... For the categories that they apply to. Celebrating someone's death however is not one of those.
This post isn't about defamation however. It's about just plain conduct and decorum and how individuals reflect upon the company that they work for which has nothing to do with lawsuits.
This is public and financial pressure. The number of people that we've gotten fired in the last 72 hours and the number of companies that have had to apologize for their employees speaking out of turn has corporations scared. They don't want to have their companies associated with any of the backlash happening right now.
