When the Sanhedrin stoned Steven, Steven was explaining to them how Israel always missed the boat the first time when commanded by God and then after being rebuked, the would repent and follow. He was pointing out that the Jews missed the boat with Jesus just as in the past times and before he could finish they killed him.
