this is why I kind of cringed at "going to church / go to church" posts, afaik the churches are taken over and are to be avoided, or need systemic / widespread fixes perhaps rather before one would go to them

I hold the Catholic position of home alone sedevacantism ("home alone" = no clergy available; "sedevacantism" = Catholics have no pope)
I've seen lots of people say they are Catholic without any Catholic belief or practice; ordinarily you'd expect in former times for them to be treated as publicly excommunicated.
This problem however extends across what claims to be the Catholic hierarchy, right to the person that claims to be the pope; hence the simple conclusion is that from a Catholic standpoint, such cannot be the Catholic Church, cannot be the Catholic hierarchy, cannot be a Catholic pope.
I think it's a little "legally irregular" such that certain people who follow maybe some Catholic belief and practice could be considered to be Catholic, even if they're part of an institution that is currently "irregular" (which was formerly Catholic).
Maybe an analogy exists politically, say our country has a totally illegitimate takeover of government where there are Americans living among Anti-Americans. The people want to make the government American again, but if they can't they might just have to leave the Anti-American State. That's not a perfect analogy though because you can be a citizen of an Anti-America, whereas a Catholic shouldn't be a part of a non-Catholic church. But the Vatican is currently an Anti-Vatican and needs to convert back to Catholicism; Catholics shouldn't be part of an Anti-Catholic Church; some speculate the world will end before the Vatican's irregularity can be straightened out.
But yeah anyway the infiltration and opposition to traditional Christian teachings seems to be everywhere

I understand what you are saying.
