Don't look now, but China is collapsing. Since we stopped buying everything there, unemployment has ballooned. People are sleeping on the street. The CCP is now widely hated. I'll be surprised if Xi makes it to the meeting with Trump.

There is the possibility he will be removed at the upcoming 4th plenum next month. If not removed, he will most likely end up being a figurehead with his power severely restricted until the 21st congress in 2027. It seems that he has already lost power. The CCP is a hardliner when it comes to CCP protocol and the signals being given off with several public appearances seem to indicate that is the case.
You are right. The Chinese people are on the verge of exploding in revolt. The CCP is in a death spiral. Trump needs to worry about protecting the US and its allies from the fallout when it does crash. I wonder if this meeting is an attempt by Trump to gauge the situation of that CCP black box. All I know is that they cannot be trusted in any deal. They still haven't made good on the promises already made - especially rare earths. When the world can finally realize that the CCP is not interested in getting along with the world - they want to rule it and the US is in the way of that ambition. They want to destroy us. How can there be any deals with regimes like that? Deals only buy time for the CCP - it will not stop them attempting to fulfill their wicked plans. The CCP is completely morally bankrupt. Their society is manifesting that bankruptcy.
