Rosh Hashanah lasted from the 22nd at sundown to the 24th at sundown. Today, the 25th, at the end of the day Comey was indicted. One full day, sundown to sundown, after the Jewish New Year.
The next Jewish high holy day is Yom Kippur. The Day of Atonement, on October 2nd.
What do you guys think of my previous thread about the Jewish New Year now?
I will follow up with you all again after Yom Kippur on the 2nd.
Kind of interesting that we are getting such a high profile indictment right as the high holy days are kicking off, don't you think?
Keep in mind, as a conservative-leaning person with a half-Jewish family, I'm not saying this as an attack against Jews, necessarily. There are a lot of interesting reasons why this symbolism might be chosen.
Another prominent date is Simchat Torah on the 15th of October. This marks the end of the high holy days and new year activities.
Listen, I just have a sneaking hunch that we will see very significant developments between right now and mid to late October.
I feel it in my bones, I know we shouldn't datefag I know we can get into trouble getting hung up on dates, but with Comey's indictment I just can't help it right now.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
On the Right to Exist: Rosh Hashana Represents a Choice for Jews of Conscience, a New Year for Zionism, or a Commitment To a New Era of Jewish Values

The Day of Atonement in Judaism is my favorite holiday because it's the day that basically compels you to turn to all of the people close to you and apologize for any and all ways you may have wronged them. It actively pushes you to be humble and make an effort to reach out and mend broken relationships.
I think it's actually a very important holiday for helping mend and maintain personal friendships and family relationships. It provides an interesting symbolic context for any developing legal cases as well.
You've got to be joking.
What denomination are you part of?
Dude this is literally just mainstream American reform Judaism.
This is like, my memories of being dragged into high holy day services by my Jewish father when I was a kid and the whole service would have like a period of 10 or 15 minutes where they pause and tell everyone to go find people in the congregation to apologize to whether it's your family or someone else.
People somehow get this idea that Judaism is like some weird psycho death cult and that's not it. The whole freaking Old Testament and the Tanakh from Judaism have a huge degree of overlap.
No religion is perfect and all people make mistakes because all humans are fallible, but I don't believe for one second that Judaism as a religion is inherently bad, and it still has many redeeming factors.
However, the state of Israel as an institution, and the intelligence agency known as Mossad, definitely have some problems that need to be scrutinized very closely.
Jewish values like slaughtering 60 million Christians in Russia 1917?
Killing our Lord?
Killing the prophets.
All the wars they've got us in?
Stealing our money.
Contrary to all men.
The list goes on.
God is allowing the wheat and chaff to grow together.
When the time is right, he will separate them.
I don't remember learning anything about that stuff being okay in Hebrew school!
