i feel like this tweet opens maybe more cans of worms than it needs to about "who are the true natives" and "how do we justify settlement" and so on... idk if anyone has any good answers on that really tbh. Time passes and it becomes foggy exactly how to right certain historical wrongs and such. So I think a lot of us just go with what is somewhat established over time. Otherwise, how would we establish things?
has anyone had thoughts like this about how complicated some of these things can be
like I remember in some theories of property there's locke's idea that adding a little labor to an original good that is not possessed justifies you making a claim to owning a certain good. That's obviously open to argument, but what do we have as an alternative if we reject this kind of argument?
It can get messy when searching for foundations for some of these things
Every people has gained land or lost land at some point over the history of the Earth. There’s no way to go back and redo all that so at some point, we have to say we are where we are. Let’s go forward from here.
