The "compassionate" progs take money from others (and themselves!!) at gunpoint so they can feel better about "helping" people. Yet when they have a surplus, I'm sure they just lease a nicer vehicle.
Unless you like your "charity" run with the compassion of the IRS and the efficiency of the military (who BTW are very efficient at killing people and blowing stuff up, other tasks not so much), I recommend getting ALL government, Fed and State, out of the "charity" business. Let local churches, food banks, homeless shelters etc handle it. Key word here is "local".
More and more I am completely convinced that centralization of any sort leads to tyranny. When you put all the controls for power in one place you attract the attention of the very people you do NOT want anywhere near them. Not just FedGov, which was limited by design until lawyers got involved, but things like the AMA should be broken into separate organizations (and I do mean SEPARATE, no overlap, no hierarchy) for each state and territory.
