Something's got to give here. Food prices keep going up and up. A pound of 80/20 hamburger is over five dollars a pound on sale..
. I remember grumbling about hamburger being over 3 dollars a pound on sale not that long ago.
Wages keep going up, prices will keep going up, what do we do?
i can afford to buy it when I want but I really watch for sales and use coupons when I can to stretch my budget.
I don't get my nails done, I cut my own hair, I splurged and bout a couple fossil purses off a thrift website for 60 dollars for both of them this spring. I don't wear designer anything unless you count the Avias I bought six years ago as designer. I pay my bills I have good credit, I don't drink I don't smoke once in a blue moon I get a cup of coffee from the gas station when I fill my tank, so no starbucks. I don't remember the last time I bought new clothes. I'm tired of my arms tensing up from stress when I look at the prices in the grocery store knowing my five items are going to be 40 dollars or more.
Sorry for the trauma dumping. I am happy, yes we are winning but financially I'm not better off than I was during the last four years. In some ways a little worse.
Yeah this stuff has been my biggest disappointment with the Trump administration. I know tons of things have happened, many things are in the works, etc etc. but I was really hoping for some tangible things that really effect the everyday person. Groceries being a huge one for me. Rumors of no income tax have pretty much disappeared at this point. I’m just bummed that financially things are not better for a lot of people.
Last June a PE firm purchased the company I worked for. They brought a bunch of us in to a meeting and said thank you, and bye bye, here is a 2 month severance. I was devastated and shocked. I thought “it won’t be a problem, I’ll get a job right away.” 4 months it took me.
The company I work for now, when I applied the salary was 15k less than what I was making prior. I was worried, but put pen to paper and figured a way to make it work. When I went in to sign the offer, they had changed the salary and reduced it by 15k. They said sorry, but as of January 1 this will be the new pay plan. It’s a commission base too. My stomach dropped because even though I will make commission, the sales process is long and I am onboarding for months.
Long story short, I make 30k less. It sucks! Everything has gone up. My property taxes. Homeowners and auto insurance. Propane.
I am making my own bread every Saturday and buy a frozen bone in turkey breast from Aldi, to have for sandwiches for the week. I lived off eggs and toast all summer.
I was chopping leaves on my mower yesterday and I felt humbled. Every generation must suffer in some form. I guess it is time to appreciate how we must deny ourselves simple pleasures we are accustomed too.
The country is making money on tariffs and I know businesses are coming back and things don't just happen in a day, but it's still feels like we're being stretched thin.
Also I live in a farm state, I haven't done any research on why beef is so high priced now, I go look at a chuck steak or arm steak and it's like 15 dollars and I just walk away. I like those cuts of meat if well marbled and done right they're tender and really good.
We do drive 45 miles to walmart usually once a month and stock up the savings there are worth the 15 dollars in gas we spend.
Our grocery store here takes advantage of being the only one in town, and it's a chain so it's not a little mom n pop establishment. I do try to shop locally and support the businesses in my town when I can, as it is the grocery store gets enough of my money anyway lol, but I watch for sales. I'm not about to spend 10 buck s on a jar of miracle whip, (yes that is what they charge here.)
Well the hug is much appreciated, thank you.
We will be fine in our house as long as things don't get too far gone. I just had to vent my frustrations.
Thank you and hugs back!
Thank you, and yes it is. I have no problem with people getting assistance when they need it but when over and over you see videos of people bragging about the junk food they would buy on 4000 ebt benefits it's frustrating.
I like the idea that woman posted on food benefits, make monthly food baskets with the essentials. I am betting a lot of elderly or disabled that depend on snap for food would like that, they can get a decent amount of groceries without having to deal with the rising food costs.
If it were just me I wouldn't care I can literally live off of the same thing every day. I share a house with my daughter and granddaughter. for the most part prepare our own meals separately but there are things we eat together as a family.
I want her to have the same feeling of family that I did growing up.
The problem isn't the wages for the employees, most are making at least $15 an hour. The real issue is the amount of hours they are allowed to work. That's the game these companies play.
Of course the 30,000,000+ illegal aliens suppress wages to the point where people cannot get a decent paying jobs.
^^^^^THIS^^^^^ is the main problem!

Sometimes that does help & this is a good place to vent🐸

Oh its going to give.
I figured $10. Per lb. of food, a averaged 200 lb. male eats 2 lbs per day
