Why won't the republicans do what President Trump ask and get rid of the filibuster. Are there really no true republicans because that's what I'm beginning to think. They are all one big uniparty; every last damn one of them.
Why would he do that? If it goes in 41 days all of his cuts to the bloated government apparatus becomes permanent. Permanent. Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? We cannot give ground. It’s important to let Democrats continue to hold this burden on his shoulders. I’m sure he has planned either scenario.
I think he's playing the media. Now when someone says it's Trump's shut down the right can point out that Trump even asked them to use the nuclear option.
I saw a video of a lawyer that said if the government remains closed for 41 days, the President has full authority to fire any government employee, shutter all monies going to NGOs, place all his appointments. I do not know if this is true but one can hope!
Heck, even if we get the nuclear option, I bet when the next vote rolls around only 50 "yes" votes would be garnered. That is how the deep state operates. Give the little guy a wee bit of hope and then at the last minute, snatch it away. There are plenty of rino senators who are voting "yes" right now, but when the nuclear option is in full effect there will be a few senators who will find a reason to vote "no".
It's time for President Trump to begin using the hammer and force the Rinos into the open. Calling for the nuclear will be a good start in uncovering these so-called conservatives.

Yes, GOP has always wanted the power of being the underdog. When in power; they never make the power moves that dems do.
Trump spent a whole month talking about nukes. Trump then gives them Cate Blachet to move forward and they wait for Godot.

I see what you are saying but that just makes me wonder why President Trump asked them to end the filibuster.

It ended about 5 minutes later. It looked like it took 20 minutes or so to roll in.
Agree.
