67 year old mother had a double mastectomy 2 weeks ago to remove a 1.3 cm tumor from her left breast
Dr's said they got the tumor and took 3 lymph nodes and they looked okay.
fast forward 2.5 weeks and they get pathology reports. Dr. saying they got the tumor but due to her having a certain gene (I believe) BRCA2 they still want her to do 4 rounds of chemo. she is distraught as she was under the impression if she got the double mastectomy, she would not need radiation or chemo.....
is this normal or any ideas to alternatives like IVM/FENBEN would help instead of chemo?
Personally, if it were my mom, and the bloodwork didn’t show any elevated white blood cell count, and the pathology report said no cancer, I wouldn’t do it. I would watch it closely.
