I have been using my og liberal sister as a way to gage "what news, info, current crunch points" are that, are hitting home to a normy left leaning person. She is not crazy political but, political enough to pick up on the usual gripes when the news mafia spews them in a way that point at affecting her personally. I try to be careful as not to leave a convo on a sour note and instead switch it to something we have in common and make it a team effort, nor start it as if attacking her personally because, I am not. General things like, her gripe on how we have been poisoning ourselves with all the products we use to clean ourselves (she been very aware of this and in fact is the one to bring it up to me, years ago now already) <- MAHA is a good common ground to fall back on for her and I though, she if very cautious about it just because, it is Trump administration. While she does not have flat out TDS like a crazy person, she dont trust them.
