Could be a fear response. I laugh when I am frightened or emotionally overwhelmed. Different people handle things differently. God help you if you make me cry that is blind fury. I withhold judgement and won’t make fun of her. It was but the grace of God I refused. I had frens who helped me understand my instincts she didn’t just a lot of pressure. Before I get the usual they deserve it understand I am fairly an unapproved vax almost killed someone I love. I have plenty of anger at the game and even individuals but no one signed up with full disclosure
Laughing can be a fear response. She could be terrified.
I laugh when my kids get hurt. I don't mean to, it just happens. I was taking a video of my other half pulling one of our kids in a sled behind the ATV, and the sled went right into a tree. I was laughing... not because I thought it was funny, but because it's just a response. Luckily, my smart kid jumped off the sled when the tree was approaching, I didn't see because of the cloud of snow that erupted.
I am grateful that the video of my sweet child's last moments aren't of me laughing.
Exactly like you I have this response which makes me seem like a terrible person when in reality I am super upset. I will say however it is useful for keeping people calm either calm oh it might not be that bad or so angry at me they forget to be freaked. So it may have its evolutionary uses.
Also glad your kiddo is okay that was likely terrifying and like you I too would have been laughing.
It was terrifying!! I was appalled and embarrassed when I watched the video. So grateful it had a good ending. Glad to meet other people who laugh too... I always wondered why I do. You are correct though, it makes other people freak out less, and they think I'm so laid back and calm in an emergency.
