If the U.S. pulls it's money and resources from Europe, which I think it should have done last century, Europe's problem won't be Russia, or even immigration. You'll be at war with each other inside of two decades.
The U.S. wasn't only there to protect you from the USSR, it was there to protect you from each other. The U.S.'s non-interventionist policies almost a century and a half prior to the Great War weren't there because Europe was a model of peaceful coexistence. It's a big reason why my great grandparents left early last century.
You can blame the tiny hats if you want, and maybe they're a factor. Honestly, I think it's deeper than that.
