Force of gravity depends upon the mass of both objects and the distances between the objects. So whether or not the “moon is too heavy for our gravity to hold it” depends on the acceleration that the moon was moving with when it became “captured” by Earth’s gravitational pull. Newton realized that objects in motion remain in motion at constant velocity (aka speed AND direction) unless acted upon by an outside force. Earth’s gravity is the outside force.
That is very interesting, can you give me a link to said cave paintings? I’m not being flippant, I know that there is usually more than one explanation for things, and I would like to see the paintings for myself.
If the moon was made of the rock they tell us it’s made of, it would be too heavy for our gravity to hold it. So they say

There are cave paintings of it being placed here.
