I assumed they were both dressed for a Special Gathering do I looked up the date:

Key Appearances on December 7, 2025: Kennedy Center Honors: They attended the prestigious event, with Melania wearing a Givenchy gown, noted for its elegant style, while Donald Trump was in a tuxedo.

Official Christmas Portrait: They also took their annual official Christmas photo at the White House, releasing it on December 7th, featuring them in formal black outfits.

Probably convenient to take their Official Christmas Photo while they were all 'dolled up'
