Those who are faithful in what is least are also faithful in what is much. Those who are faithful in what is much are also faithful in what is least. Do not mix darkness with light. The powers saw this as concerning and developed the universal church that mixed pagan practices with the new Christian worship to appease everyone and allowed them to keep control for a time. All of that has morphed into modern Christianity. Personal study is very important for Christian apologetics.
