He said it was because "your government has allowed it's internal enemies to poison your own people for the last 100 years" and that we are the only country in the world that makes a cult out of killing it's own young.

Typical European! I've never met one that doesn't spend their time bad mouthing the United States out of pure envy. Whatever issues we have -- this is still the best country in the world.
And really, has anyone offered this person permanent residence anyway? It's really cute that he "rejects" something that probably isn't on the table in the first place. So brave of him.
I don't badmouth the USA. I've visited several times. I even attempted to emigrate there. But I was overqualified. At the time (1987) only mexicans were getting in.
