More to the point, the SS is a division of the Treasury Department, which is a cabinet agency under the Executive (Presidential) branch. So yes, the SS comes under the purview of the President.
The SS role of safeguarding our currency is only part of their role under Treasury; their other, and unrelated, role is that of protection details for the President and other people in our government.
