From April 1940 to August 1943, the Danish government pursued a policy of cooperation with Nazi Germany following the German invasion. This strategy aimed to preserve Danish sovereignty in domestic affairs and avoid harsher occupation measures. The Germans, viewing Danes as "fellow Aryans" and wanting to showcase Denmark as a "model protectorate" (dubbed the Cream Front), allowed the Danish government, monarchy, and police to remain in place...
While it is true that Denmark did resist the nazis, they also collaborated with them too. But, good on your pops for fighting the good fight.
This is true but did not happen with the peoples blessing or King Christian X of Denmark for that matter.
Danish resistance, government officials, and ordinary citizens, enabled the successful evacuation of over 7,200 Danish Jews and nearly 700 non-Jewish relatives to neutral Sweden. Known as Krystal natten. No jews was arrested.
This prompted SS General Werner Best the Commandant of Denmark to arrest over 7500 police officers and send them to camps in Germany.
The Danes resisted from day one and paid a heavy price. More than 800 killed out of 3.5 mill.
