Asking someone a question hardly qualifies as "harassment". You're projecting unnecessary drama on the situation.
Let me be perfectly frank with you. I'm going to tell you my opinion. Please be aware that it is my opinion and not necessarily that of everyone on this board.
Why does this situation with illegal aliens hold such interest for you? It's been my experience that people who get involved in "causes", do so because they consider themselves to be "good" people and desire an outlet for their empathy.
I don't have a problem with empathetic people or a desire to put that emotion to use. What I take issue with is where you chose to place that interest.
Two days ago, my daughter participated in saving a patient who coded. That man is alive today because of my daughter and the rest of the team who brought that patient back. This was a constructive use of empathy.
On the other hand, a woman objecting to the deportation of illegal aliens attempted to use her car as a weapon to run over a law enforcement agent and paid with her life. I am sure she thought she was being empathetic. Although how trying to kill someone translated to empathy in her mind escapes me.
I want you to spend the next 24 hours thinking about the two situations I have described.
You will know a tree by its fruit.
I suggest, and I do this with sincere kindness -- that you find an outlet for your empathy which, will add constructively to the world. If not medicine, then work with the handicapped, homeless, or elderly. There are so many organizations with people who genuinely need empathetic people to lend a hand. Criminals entering the country illegally are not a worthy cause.
There have been plenty examples of citizens being harassed. ICE has attracted some bullies and they are making the whole program look bad.
If you examine the video you will see that the ICE officer's life was not in danger.
You're being purposely obtuse. The weight of an average automobile is 2 tons! The woman aimed and actually hit the law enforcement officer while she committed the crime of attempted murder. This is a felony.
Considering she had been "trained" to resist ICE and this training specifically taught using autos -- a case for premeditation can be made. Quite frankly, that woman's partner should be behind bars as an accessory, as she was also in the car at the time.
Furthermore, I am personally rooting for the justice department to try charging the program that "trained" this woman because suggesting autos may well make them accessories too!
This has the potential to end up a whole lot more explosive for these idiots than they ever imagined.
You're backing the wrong people on this one. This is a premeditated felony. The fact that she received "training" pretty much underlines intention.
Again -- I kindly suggest you redirect your empathy to deserving recipients. You are backing criminals and wannabe murderers. There are a plethora of genuinely deserving individuals that could use a person with your passion to fight for them.
Let me give you some direction. Take a tour of homes for the handicapped. Some of them have appalling conditions. Children living with basically nothing and being neglected by society. Channel your passion into fighting for their rights! They deserve a champion and you so obviously want to be one! You're spending your time defending the rights of drug dealers, human traffickers, and serial rapists to remain in this country! What a complete waste of your time!
Embrace reality! Seek that which is good for humanity! You'll end up doing genuine good in this world and feel much better about yourself!
Look, we are not going to agree on this issue. However, surely we can agree that 20,000 agents asking people for their papers without identifying themselves is not going to be popular? Also there are bullying elements in the ranks of ICE and they are discrediting the operation? Like all bullies they are most aggressive against the weakest in society.
I think we need to look at why you consider this so offensive in the first place.
If a law enforcement officer in the midst of an operation to remove criminal aliens from my country were to ask me to identify myself -- I would gladly cooperate. That's because I know that removing these drug dealers, serial rapists, etc. is being done for the benefit of everyone who lives in this country -- including me and mine.
I'm not a prima donna. My ego -- well, I don't consider myself so darn important that my need to feel "offended" is more important than everybody else's need to feel safe.
But this point of view -- the willingness to let go of your own needs to support the needs of others usually begins to increase as you get older. So I am not going to fault you for your point of view because I don't know how many spins around the sun you've taken.
But consider this -- the inconvenience of flashing a piece of paper is really miniscule when matched against the safety and security of everyday people.
We're talking everybody -- from toddlers to grannies will be that much safer the quicker these law enforcement officers get these people out of the country.
I encourage you to do some research in regard to the citizens who have been killed by these illegal migrants and you may understand why we feel they should be returned to their own countries. The families of their victims -- well, there is really nothing we can do to fill the void in their hearts. But we can make sure that no other family members join their ranks by losing a loved one.
Believe me. Supporting this cause is unworthy of your passion. The handicapped need a champion. BE THEIRS.
