Ancient Plant Fossils and Soil: Ice core samples from beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet, including those from the Camp Century site, have revealed well-preserved fossilized plants, mosses, twigs, and sediments.
These date back around 416,000 years and indicate that Greenland was once ice-free, supporting tundra-like vegetation.
Pops told me that he was part of team examining these when I was a pup. Was there mammal/reptile life as well ?. Did NASA Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) unexpectedly find something important ?
forgot to add, Pops specifically said Palm tree leaves. Someone in Copenhagen should know. He was a pharmaceutical assistant in the Pharmaceutical Institute there.
