Maybe it’s just me, but the message that Savannah Guthrie left where she made the comment “we understand“ and the comment “we will pay“ just kind of stuck out at me. It definitely sounded scripted like maybe she was trying to answer some questions in a message we never got to see. Someone made a comment that maybe her motherwas taken to send a message to journalists to tow the line, to show them that they can go after their families, etc.. When she said “we will pay” you can take that a couple different ways, we will pay the ransom in talking about money or we will pay meaning journalist will get justice for what they’ve done…
